Oak and western red cedar garage. Design & Build: Roger Patch click to enlarge |
We are very flexible, felling the trees and sawing the timber for each order. We can saw, kiln dry and machine to any specification. We have no standard products, but just cut what customers want. We can give advice on suitable species and board designs for any application. All timber is certified as sustainable under the Forest Stewardship Council scheme (ref. SGS-FM/COC-0429/G076). | ![]() |

There is no limit to the uses of timber: cladding, decking, garden landscaping, floorboards, windows... anything! It is the most sustainable construction material, as well as the most beautiful. For more ideas it is worth looking at the Wood. For Good website. The picture shows naturally durable western red cedar cladding on a restored historic granary. | |
| There is a big
advantage when cutting trees specifically to meet the sizes required for a
timber frame. Each beam is cut out of a log just big enough, giving what
is called 'boxed heart'. This is the traditional approach, and gives
maximum strength and minimum movement on drying. The
Timber Frame Company are an example of a timber frame builder who make
modern and traditional frames, in softwood as well as oak.
We can cut any size timber up to 8" x 16" (200mm x 400mm). We can also plane and machine rebates, tongue and groove, shiplap etc.. If you can draw it we will try and cut it! |
