We operate a permit scheme for horse and mountain bike riders, jointly with the
National Trust. This gives access to over 50 miles of
woodland tracks. Permits cost £29 per horse rider, or £10 for a mountain
biker, per year, and run from April to
April. The permit gives access to all the woodland tracks in the area shown on
the map. It does not give access to the gallops on Pen Ridge, which are signed
as for special permit holders only. These special permits are available for a
£50 donation to the The Lady Hoare Trust for Physically Handicapped Children.
Please discourage anyone you believe may be using the gallops without a permit,
as they are depriving the Trust of the income needed to help its valuable work.
Riders are asked not to bring dogs, for the safety of other riders and the
wildlife. Some tracks can be very wet in winter, so please use your good sense.
Tracks can also become obstructed by low branches or fallen trees. If this
happens please let us know and we will clear the obstruction.
